Intro to Loans: What are Some Other Financial Aid Options?

In our last post, we talked about how applying to scholarships is a great way to financially help pay for college, but this is not the only way to do so!

Another popular way for paying for college can be through applying for grants.

Grants are another form of financial aid and are free money that is given out to students that do not have to be paid back. What makes grants differ from scholarships is that grants are based on financial need.

A popular example of a grant is FASFA. The FASFA application is free to all students and awards over $114.1 billion each year to students! There have been some recent changes to the FASFA application process. For the 2024-2025 cycle, applications open during December 2024.

To optimize your chances of receiving more financial aid from FASFA, students should apply as soon as possible as they work on a first come first serve basis.
